Yvie’s amazing transformation at 40 has helped her get back to her high school weight.
As the marketing director at Microsoft and mum to two lovely girls, Yvie had it all – she managed to juggle work, family and social commitments, but what fell through was her fitness and health.
With her 40th birthday approaching, she was ready for a big change.

It took Yvie 20 weeks and just 42 gym sessions to get the body and the strength she always wanted – while losing 10kg in weight and 14.5cm on the waist.

“Physically, I am the leanest and strongest I have ever been, starting off my 40s better than I ever was in my 20s. I have the energy to last through long days at work and into the evenings and weekends to share with my little girls, husband, and friends.

Starting out, it felt like getting in the best shape of her life was going to be a mountain to climb, given her hectic lifestyle.

“I am a full-time working mum who struggles to balance family and work – I work long hours, travel up to 1-2 weeks a month, and usually get less than 6 hours sleep a night.”

Yvie never had a problem with exercise, but it was often nutrition and her relationship with food which held her back from achieving what she wanted.
“I worked out a lot and tried various fitness programmes, but I never achieved the physique I wanted.
“I had a bad relationship with food, which I know prevented me from achieving those goals.
“So I tried several nutrition challenges and diets but bounced right back to where I started after completing those programmes – making me feel guilty and down on myself. It was a vicious cycle.”
Yvie started by making her goals public – she figured the added pressure of public failure would keep her committed.
But what she found was the U.P. transformation programme gave her all the accountability she needed to stay consistent and reach her goal.
While there were challenges along the way, but Yvie developed the tools to be able to handle them with ease and stay on track.
“Weekends are challenging – it’s family time, you are surrounded by food and people who are pressuring you to do stuff. It’s amazing how you can actually overcome those things when you are committed to a programme.
“The second challenge is when I am traveling for work – that throws up my whole routine, and so again, the focus you need there is even more. Halfway through the programme, I became an expert at scoping out hotel gyms, restaurants, and planning food and meals – it became almost second nature!”
What she found was that she didn’t have to dedicate hours and hours every day to her fitness to get the results she wanted.
